Good but could be better

The stove was able to keep our tent warm as we hit freezing several nights. I would estimate it kept us in the 60s while it was 30 degrees. We had to stoke the fire every 3 hours or so. Which we expected. 2 slight complaints. The removable round top for cooking, leaked smoke. Rather not have it there. I might weld it shut. The spark arrestor does not work well. I had 3 or 4 burns on the top of my tent and will need to patch. I will be looking for a different topper and might add a few pipes for length.

Sleep better

I sleep better knowing this is under my stove: it’s large enough to catch embers that can spill out when door is opened. It’s not burned when this has happened. Worth the money for peace of mind.

Light and easy to deal with

I haven't dropped many sparks on this yet, but its a nice upgrade from older fiberglass options

Did not protect the floor

I was using the Nomad large stove in my tent and the heat from the stove sitting so close to the ground melted a hole in the back through the mat. To verify it was at the back of the stove so no embers got on it and burned through. I’m disappointed it burned a hole in my 1000 dollar tent the second trip.

Falling apart after first use

The foil layer is very thin. After our first use I noticed the foil tearing in multiple places (both on perimeter and at folds) even with careful use in our new skyliner tent. I’m quite surprised at how delicate this is compared to the price. You could definitely make a better mat for much cheaper. Pass on this item. Not worth it at all.
