Take your hot tenting adventures to another level with the Winnerwell Woodlander Plus External Air Stove. With it’s unique patent-pending design, the Woodlander Plus External Air Wood Burning Tent Stove brings a new standard of heating efficiency to portable wood burning stoves.

The External Air draw allows the stove to perform safely and independently from the air inside the tent. This unique feature eliminates cold drafts and prevents the stove from consuming the hot air it has created, making it easier to heat a tent or shelter. Safety is also increased because the stove is not consuming the same air as the occupants inside the shelter—making this stove ideal for use in outdoor saunas and shelters with limited venting.

Works very well

I bought this for a backyard tent sauna. It easily heats up the 6.5x 6.5 foot space to a comfortable sauna temperature. I got it to about 200f in the tent before damping down the fire

The stove appears very well constructed and the large viewing glass also provides a nice ambiance. I've fired the stove about 5 times.

The external air damper can get quite hot and a better mechanism would have been nice, it got a little sticky to turn when the stove was hot, but still functions well. The exterior air feature is very nice for safety and and it eliminated drafts quite well.

I found ash scraping tool impossible when the stove is burning. The scraper just barely fits and just pushes things around more than being useful. However it's great when you're cleaning out a cool stove.

Not well designed

I just fired up my new stove last night to "burn it it"before using in a tent, and first issue I noticed was about 5 minutes in when I went to place the hot water tank on top and the stove had already expanded in dimension enough that the water tank would not sit down when placed in position. The two metal tabs that lock the tank on top of the stove were now to narrowly spaced to place the tank. 20 minutes later when the water tank had heated up I was able to push it down in place but then later when I wanted to remove the tank and flush the water out and re fill I could not remove it from the stove!
About this time I noticed that the top of the stove was also visually distorting upwards in the centre and when I placed a frying pan on top It was confirmed...about 1/4 high in the middle! This despite me using both the flu damper and the stove damper to keep the burn rate reasonable.
Which brings up another complaint, the air intake control rod that allows the user to control the rear air supply from the front, runs down along side the stove and when it get's hot it also distorts and binds which makes operating the control difficult at times.... some times it's as you'd expect and very smooth and other times it get's bound up and needs tapping with a piece of wood to get it to budge.... I hope I didn't forget anything else! I probably should make a list of the issues.... just fired it up for it's second burn inside my tipi and we will see! I'm 52 and grew up in a house that was heated with wood and we used to burn about 6 chords each winter. Plenty of experience with wood stoves and this unit is not worth the money in my opinion.... has potential but needs more work! I bought it in Canada and there is no website their to comment on so I thought I'd pass my findings along here as I don't seem much posted on this model online.

Amazing New Design

I bought this Stove for the fact that it has the separate air intake system. I always have a concern about carbon monoxide poisoning when it comes to stove tents. I used this Stove in a small 6 man tent for a week long Elk Hunt. I worked amazing. Kept us cold, burned the wood at a good pace, and I had no concerns about the oxygen in our tent with it being sealed up to like it is. I would recommend this system over any other Stove any day!

So far I like it.

I've fired it up 3 times now learning to use it. Doesn't take much wood to get it hot. I got a wood burning stove top thermometer so as to not overheat it. Planning to use it in my bell tent for a week long hunting trip this winter that I got snowed on last year where it got down to 7°F. I almost feel like it should have a chimney damper... but the inlet air damper seems to do most of the work. I wish the remote air could tie into the triple wall pipe so I don't have to poke another hole into my tent... I'll probably mod it and try it out. Overall very happy. It isn't cold enough here to really get an idea how well it's going to work yet... but here's to hoping. Makes great pancakes.
